I was watching Dexter online and decided to make a couple Christmas cards so here is the first one I made using a new Penny Black stamps called "poinsettia script" that I picked up at Anchor Paper last week.

I colored it with distress wash and acrylic paints. My husband and son think it looks a little like fall leaves. Next time I need to make the yellow center a little more intense.

Thankful for YOU

I am really enjoying the layouts over at Sketchy Thursday and this week they posted a new sketch for a chance to be Novembers Guest Designer.

Along with using this sketch we were to use 5 leaves somewhere on the layout or in the pictures. Well not sure if you can tell but there is definitely more than 5 leaves in that pile Justin is sitting in.  We were also to list what we are thankful for so I add a few of the many things I am thankful for.

snow buddy revisited

I posted a card yesterday but couldn't show you the inside due to a little mishap with an inkpad so I have redone the card and now want to share it with you.

I added a sentiment to the revised card along with some glossy accents on the holly berries.

Here is the inside of the card. When you open it up a snowman's body is in the fold of the card. This is a a new stamp set by Inky Antics called Penguin Pal and the snowman is made out of honeycomb paper.

I just love this set and am going to be making a few of these for my Christmas Cards to send out to some friends.

I am also entering this into Yvonne's guest designer Erin's Faux Letterpress challenge to use ink in your embossing folder.

celebrate today

Yesterday would have been my Dad's 84th birthday and this coming Saturday is my Mother-in-laws 84th birthday (don't tell her I told you) so I had to make her a card.

I recently picked up some of the 6x6 pads by Simple Stories and I used the "generations" collection for my card along with some Maya Road rose ribbon.

I used the Card Patterns Sketch 136 for my inspiration. Such a fun sketch to use and you could just use scraps that you have laying around for this one.

snow buddy

While I was Skyping with my friend Michelle in Australia last night I created this fun Holiday Card and before putting it together I decided to try putting some of my Ranger Distress ink "tumbled glass" inside my embossing folder. Well let me just say I LOVE how it turned out and will definitely be doing more of these.

The color just makes those snowflakes "POP", don't you think so?

I would show you the inside of this card but unfortunately I had an inking disaster at the very end of making this card so have to redo the inside. So be on the look out for "snow buddy" part two.

witchy goodness

I have a couple of cards to share today before I get busy around the house.

I created this card using the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge and the Wee Memories "Hootin' H'owl'oween" challenge.

I absolutely love the papers and chipboard embellishments in this collection by My Minds Eye. The tulle lace is by Maya Road and I sprayed it with chalkboard charcoal and apricot glimmer mist. I also rotated the sketch to fit my embellishments.

hearts

There is a new challenge over at "Less is More" and it is to create a one layer card using hearts. Well I can't believe I only own one stamp with a heart on it and it happens to be a valentine/easter stamp.

This bunny image is probably the oldest stamp I own. I bought it in 1998 when I first started my love of stamps. It is a Penny Black stamp and the pink wording in the background is a Hero Arts "friend" stamp.

I went to Archivers today for a few hours to meet up with a friend and work on a mini album I am making for Cassie. Once it is finished I will post pictures.

sketchy thursday

I am really loving the sketches the past few weeks over at Sketchy Thursday and when I saw this weeks sketch I knew I had to play along.

I picked up some school papers at Archivers this past Monday when they had all 12x12 pattern paper, and all paper pads at 43% off. And they were perfect for these school pictures of Cassie that I had sitting on my craft table.

I even pulled out my sewing machine and did some stitching on this layout. Can you find it on here? I did it in two different spots.

snow much fun

Happy Monday! Did you all have a great weekend? We had beautiful weather here in Minneapolis this past weekend.

Yesterday was card club at Anchor Paper Express where I teach with my friend Bonnie and Kathy. We had a full group and it was a lot of fun.

I created this card the other night using "Saint Nick" papers by Fancy Pants. I used a Martha Stewart border and snowflake punch and the sentiment is an SRM sticker.

I used this weeks Card Patterns sketch as my inspiration.

celebrate the season

I created a few cards yesterday for WCMD while I skyped with my friend Michelle. My first card was created for this weeks Clean and Simple Stamping challenge.

Here is the sketch that I used for my inspiration.

I used papers from the Authentique "wonder" collection, image and sentiment are by Unity (ornamental season" and an Martha Stewart border punch.

If you read my blog yesterday you know that I was doing some baking and made mini pumpkin pies. Well I must admit they turned out wonderful and I will definitely make again.

So are you playing along with all the World Card Making Day activities today? I haven't made a card yet but am hoping to later today.

I am trying to get some scrapbooking done and wanted to share a layout that I created with this weeks sketch over at Sketchy Thursday.

I am not sure what the layout needs but I feel like it is missing something. If you have any ideas let me know I am always looking for ways to make my pages pop. Maybe some stitching around the 4 squares would help.

fall cuties and challenge

It is time for a new release over at A Day for Daisies and this weeks release is called "fall cuties". I got to play with the image "fall pup".

It is also a challenge week and this weeks challenge is called "gimme some texture". It can be anything embossing, fabric, ribbon, or anything else you can think of to add.

I used a Sizzix embossing folder along with some paper piecing and some twine to add texture to my card.

tis the season

I picked up a new stamp set yesterday by Graphic 45 and wanted to try it out so I went hunting for a sketch challenge. I found the perfect one over at "Less is More".

I stamped the image of the two kids first and then created a mask and stamped over it twice with the postcard stamp from the same set. I colored in the image with Copics and then stamped the sentiment at the bottom.

I saw this weeks sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays and knew I wanted to play along this week and actually post a picture of my finished piece. A lot of times I do the sketch for the week and just don't post it. I guess you could say I am layout shy. :)

Don't you just love it? I was almost scared off by the sewing on  this piece but grabbed my machine and went with it. I am a beginner when it comes to sewing so I apologize if the lines are not that straight.
