Day 153 ~ Tag, You're It

Finally it is Friday and I heading off to spend the day with Tami we are meeting for coffee and then heading over to Smudges for a day of stamping, prizes and pizza for lunch. Can't wait. I don't have anything ready yet and I leave in about 2 hours but heck that doesn't worry me. When I get home it will just be me and Birdie (our 15 year old green cheeked conure parrot). My husband Joe is heading up north to his brothers cabin near International Falls with our son Justin, his fiance Melissa, and Justin's best friend Ernie.

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to use a journaling tag somewhere on your card. I was so glad to see it was an easy challenge and I quickly grabbed my Amy Butler stuff as it was still on my desk from when I used it a few days ago.

Peek-a-Boo to You

Well it is day 152 over at 365 Cards and today's challenge is to create a fun flap somewhere on our card. I had so much fun creating this card today and I got to play with my new Cosmo Cricket ~ "Earth Love" papers that we just got in at Anchor Paper where I work part-time. (I also picked up the new Christmas collection too)

I couldn't get my pictures to turn out as nice as I would have liked, but hopefully you can get the idea of the card.

Day 151 ~ A Certain Sentiment

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to create a card using the sentiment ~ "You Can Do It" well I knew that I would do a vintage card as I had an image I had been saving for just such an occassion I just had to change the We to You. I was going to leave it and see if Pam would notice it and then decided I best play by the rules and leave the rule bending to Gloria and Rose.

You probably know that I love doing vintage cards and distressing everything I can on it. I put some poms ribbon on the card at the last minute and am still trying to decide if I like it. Let me know what you think.

This card is going to go to a very special friend and the inside reads "We are Going to kick BIG Al's Ass". She will know who she is and will know what this means. (love ya).

Paper Blooms ~ Guest Designer

Just too Cute

I am home after spending some time with Micah, Cassie and Shannon. After a quick trip to Walmart to pick up a couple things we just hung out and acted silly. Okay I acted silly and Micah just looked at me and laughed.

He is now about 4 1/2 months old and boy is this guy getting big. He is going to be tall like his dad.

Day 150 ~ An "Eye" for an "I"

Today over at 365 Cards we are to create a card using a Homophone and I must admit I had never herd (lol) of this word before, so went to the dictionary for the definition.

Homophone: noun
1.
Phonetics. a word pronounced the same as another but differing in meaning, whether spelled the same way or not, as heir and air.
2.
a written element that represents the same spoken unit as another, as ks, a homophone of x in English.
Origin: 1615–25; back formation from homophonous

I knew the perfect stamp to use and just had to find it. After digging through 5 - 3 ring binders of clear stamps I found it. I bought this stamp set about a year ago and had not even inked it up. You know how you absolutely have to have something and then when you get it ~ it just isn't the same. Well that is how I felt about this set.

I am off to spend sometime with Micah and Cassie today.

Day 149 - Try A Techniue: Sponging

I was so happy to see an easy challenge today over at 365 Cards since I need to be out of the house early to help out a very good friend. The challenge is to use sponging on your card and oh how I love to sponge. I like that aged or distressed look it gives to photos and papers.

Today's card uses a few of my favorite things, a photo, basicgrey paper and ribbon I could of put a button or two or three, but thought that might be a little over the top even for me.

Winter Wonderland ~Week 9 ~ Christmas Tree Decorations

Well another fun thing that happens on Sunday is that Winter Wonderland post their new challenge for the week and this week it is all about "Christmas Tree Decorations".

I happen to have some glass ornaments in my craftroom so quickly stamped a couple of my penny black snowmen onto some acetate and colored them in with my sharpie's. Cut them into a circle about the same size as the ornament and rolled them up so I could insert them into the ornament along with some Denami shreds. I tied on a couple of ribbons and they were done.

The photo's did not turn out as good as they could have.

Day 148 ~ Super Sketchy Sunday

Well it is Sunday and the start of a new week over at 365 Cards this week is all about reader appreciation and to kick it off we have our Sunday sketch. I don't know if I am a fan of sketches or not sometimes I spend so much time trying to interpret the sketch that I get lost. Today's sketch had me confused and after going through the 6x6 paper packs on my desk and not finding anything that inspired me I pulled out my 12x12 plastic bin labelled heritage stuff. I knew that I would find something circular and that would help me chose the type of card I would make. So as you can see I pulled out some Sharon Ann paper and chipboard. Not sure I like the card, but I can mark it down as being complete.

I think I will mail this card to my sister Sharon as she is out of town on a roadtrip to Northern California to visit with our sisters Linda & Terry Lee. This will be in the mailbox waiting for her when she gets home in a couple weeks.

Day 147 ~ Scraplift Saturday

What can I say but "thank you, thank you Pam". I was so happy to finally see a pretty easy challenge today since I need to get bathed and out of this house within one hour and head off to work at the LSS today (Anchor Paper on University) stop by if you are in the area.

I decided to scope out a couple of our design team members blogs and knew immediately once I saw the card I would LIFT from Sophie. I love how clean and simple her card is and wanted to mimic that in mine.

Day 146 ~ Mirror Me

It is a nice cool morning here in Minneapolis, what I like to refer to as good sleeping weather (if I could sleep), there is thunder in the distance and you know it is going to be raining soon.

Well the challenge for today over at 365 Cards is to create symmetry on your card. The only part of the card that does not have to be symmetrical is the sentiment. Pam thought that this was going to require a little thinking on our part to pull it off, but my card came together rather quickly. I sure hope I did it right but if I did not I am sure you will let me know. I always complete the inside of my cards with a little something either a piece of paper, a photo corner, a verse and sometime an image.

Not sure what is on the agenda for today I know I want to run to Walmart to pick up a couple things and I have to make a noodle dish for my son Justin to take to an LPA (little people of america) picnic Saturday at Como Park Zoo. Hope you all take time to enjoy the day.

Card Pattern Sketch #24

Since I got everything done today that needed to get done I decided to try and do one more challenge. I found the card patterns sketch to look fairly easy so gave it a go. It also gave me a chance to use my new Crafty Secrets "Girlfriend" sheet. If you have not seen these they are wonderful. Each sheet comes with lots of different vintage images and you just cut out the one you want to use. They go very well with Graphic 45 papers I think.

Day 145 ~ Ad Inspired

So this morning I decided to do a few things before looking at the challenge over at "365 Cards" as I knew it was going to be a hard one. After looking at it for a few minutes I knew immediately what I was going to do ~ well I don't know about you, but do you ever have visions of something on how it is going to look and then when you are done it looks nothing like you imagined? Well that is my card today. I thought about redoing it and then decided NO somedays you have good ones and somedays you have my bad ones.

It is going to be hot and humid today here in Minnesota and we are going to get out the grill tonight so I plan on making a potato salad and maybe running to the store for corn on the cob and then maybe strawberry shortcake for dessert. Yummy.

Day 144 ~ You Raise Me UP

It is a beautiful afternoon here in Minneapolis and luckily not too hot or too humid. This morning I was up and out of the house by 7:15 as I had an oil change appointment at 7:30, then I ran to the post office to send off a package and then the grocery store for a few things to make a noodle salad for my son to take to an LPA picnic this weekend.

I looked at the challenge for today over at "365 Cards" and thought this would be an easy one. Todays challenge was all about adding dimension to your card and to try to incoroporate 2 ways to add dimension to it. I figured it would be fast so would do it up when I got home ~ well I have been home now for about 6 hours and I just finished my card. Yep, it took a little more time than I anticipated. Probably because I couldn't decide on what to use on the cone I finally ended up using some lemon yellow flower soft on the ice cream & some crystal 3-D laquer on the cone and cherry. I added a little spica glitter to the stem. I layered the cone and ice cream 3 times to give it some dimension also. I used my Happy Birthday Cuttle Bug embossing folder and some May Arts ribbon and considered it done.

Before this finished card I had to do the flower soft and red 3-d crystal laquer two times. The red kept running into the yellow (I didn't have the patience for it to dry the first two times), then I thought the main card should be yellow, well didn't like how that looked, then I was going to put a tag hanging from the ribbon with a sentiment and didn't like that either. The inside says "You're such a treat" both stamps are from the Unity KOM for June.

Day 143 ~ Keep it to Yourself ~ Sympathy

When I first saw the challenge for today over at "365 Cards" I thought that it would be really easy to do and 3 cards later I decided it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I knew what concept I wanted to do on my card, but coming up with the right color combination was hard. The first one I made looked too much like a wedding, and the second one I just didn't like. I think this final card says "Sympathy" without actually saying it. I did put another one of the leafy vines on the inside along with the sentiment "With deepest sympathy".

Day 142 ~ Movie Monday

I think I am finally getting back into card making, maybe those birthday cards I had to make yesterday gave me a little push in the right direction.

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to let the movie or book TWILIGHT be the inspiration for your card. However, there were a few exceptions to be had and they were: Card base must be black, red must be the main color of your card, must use rhinestones or glitter on the card.

I must admit I am a total Twilight freak and have read all 4 books, bought the movie and have watched it about 20 times. My card is based on what I think Edward would say to Bella during some romantic moment. I hope you see the humor in the card and if you haven't read the book since Edward is a Vampire he can't go out in the sun. :)

Day 141 ~ Super Sketchy Sunday

I don't know why I can get my MOJO back but this is my attempt to do so, and because today is Sunday that means it is sketch day over at "365 Cards". The sketch looked easy enough but once I came up with what I was going to do just not sure I like it.

I need to make a couple of birthday cards this morning so am hoping they turn out okay.

Card for a Friend

I guess being gone for almost a week scrapbook-ing has taken my card making mojo away. I just can't get in the mood to make cards.

This is a card that I made while we were scrapbooking using some new photo pictures from Crafty Secrets called "girlfriends". This card is on the way to a friend as a thank you for buying me this cute little frog that the card is sitting on.
