Day 184 - Pretty in Pink or Rebel without a Cause?

It is Monday so it is my day to visit with Jeanne and go to lunch with her and Judy.  Over at 365 Cards the challenge is called Movie Monday and we were to be inspired by the movie "Pretty in Pink" well when I first saw this challenge I thought we were to make a card based on our favorite movie and mine happens to be "Calamity Jane" with Doris Day. I used to watch this movie with my Dad when I was little and it brings back great memories. So to be a little rebel (like my friends Gloria and Rose) I decided to do Calamity Jane meets Pretty in Pink.
I used BasicGrey papers & Button, Fancy That ribbon, KaiserCraft flower, Dew Drops, my Dymo label maker and some ranger distressing ink.

I might be missing  a few days this week as I am driving up to Wahpeton ND to pick up my sister tomorrow and she is coming down for a visit.

Day 183 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Well it is Sunday which means time for Pam to give us a sketch to follow for our challenge today. I usually am not a big fan of sketches but today's was pretty easy to follow along with and didn't require too many pieces to do it.

I decided to pull out my me&my big ideas modern milan that I picked up a few weeks ago when I was at Michaels and I got to use one of the flowers I have been hoarding that Jeannie sent me awhile back.

I don't have anything exciting planned for today just run to Target to pick up a few things and then stop at BestBuy to get a few new ink cartridges for my printer and the new Madden 10 for the PS3 that Justin wants. Hope you all have a great Sunday. Enjoy~

Saturday Continued - Get Sketchy #3

I have decided I wasn't in the mood to mop floors and clean toilets today so have just had a lazy day in my craftroom playing with papers and trying to be creative. I decided to have a go at the sketch over at Get Sketchy.

They always seem to have a fabulous sketch for us to interpret and then create something and the design team always comes up with some great inspiration to get us started. My card today was a chance to use my Memory Box papers that are quickly becoming a favorite thanks to my friend Tami. This is the new holiday "spiceberry" papers. You can bet I will be using these on my holiday cards this year and maybe even a mini event holiday book or two.

I added a photo from my collection of Christmas photos, some BasicGrey ribbon, a Tim Holtz tag, a making memories finding with mini buttons attached on the ribbon. I distressed the edges of all the papers with chestnut roan chalk ink and figured my card was complete. Hope you enjoy~

Day 182 ~ Sporty Saturday

Okay, I have to admit that I am a little disappointed in the Beer on a Stick at the fair this year. Take a look on the right side of my blog at the photo of the day. But it is beer and it is on a stick.
I just noticed that my blog counter is getting closer and closer to 20,000 visits every day so I am going to give blog candy the day it reaches 20,000. I will pick the winner from one of my followers so if you want to be included and you are not already a follower just leave me a comment sometime and let me know you are now a follower. I don't know what you will win but I will say it will be something wonderful just ask anyone who has already won blog candy from me.
Now today's challenge over at 365 Cards had me a little stumped today as I wasn't sure if I had anything that would work and then I remembered in my envelope of stickers and papers to give away I had some leftover soccer stuff from when Cassie played soccer. I also had that great checkerboard paper from the other day to use. Don't know what I will do with this card so if you have someone who plays soccer and you want the card just leave me a comment and I will get it in the mail to you.

Friday and Day 181 ~ White Space

Well I am glad that it is finally Friday and that means a few more days and I head up to North Dakota to see my big sister Sharon and bring her down to visit with us for awhile.
Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to create a card with lots of white space following a sketch that Pam has provided. I find these kinds of sketches much harder to do than the Vintage card we did yesterday. I think that Pam enjoys seeing us all suffer with a challenge once in awhile. So to be a little rebellious I decided to use Kraft cardstock as my base instead of white. I think I have used this layout before or something very similar. But what the heck it works. I used my Earth Love mini deck by Cosmo Cricket and my EK Retro flower punch for this card. Grabbed a couple of buttons from my very large button collection, added some faux stitching across the the paper and viola done. The inside has a strip of the floral paper and I added a rub-on from pebbles ink.

So does anyone have anything fun planned for this weekend? It is state fair time here in Minnesota and you can find everything on a stick there. I think this year the big thing is Beer on a Stick. Usually it is something really weird, but this one is probably the most interesting. They say that the beer is not frozen. I will let you know what I find out. Enjoy~

Day 180 ~ Going Vintage

This is a quick post to show you all my card for today's challenge over at 365 Cards which is to make your card "Vintage". Now you all know how much I love doing the vintage cards. This gave me an opportunity to use my new cuttlebug embossing folder that I picked up at Anchor Paper the other day and some more of that fun pom-pom ribbon.

Hump Day & Day 179 ~ Checkerboard Background

Today is Wednesday and the best part about that is I have nothing planned for the day I am just going to hang out in my craftroom and try and get some scrapbooking done and finish up my cards for my class at Anchor next month.
Have you seen the trailer for "New Moon" which is the sequel to Twilight. Oh my gosh I have been an Edward fan, but after seeing Jacob WOWZA I might be changing my mind. Can't wait for it to hit the theatres here in November.
Thanks Pam I was so happy to see today's challenge as I knew that I had checkerboard paper and I knew exactly where it was (I had just gone through all my papers and gave a ton of it away). The outside checkerboard is by Lasting Impressions and the inside checkerboard paper is by Darcies. I love the look of black and white together. I added a BasicGrey "woolie", some May Arts ribbon, Making Memories pin, some clear buttons from my stash. Simple yet effective I think. The stamp is by Inkadinkadoo. Let me know what you think.

It is a rainy morning here in Minnesota one of those perfect days for sleeping in ~ if you are able to. I am one of those who can't sleep during a storm.
The challenge today over at 365 Cards was to create a card with a "Back to School" theme. I decided to do a really simple card and will give it to Cassie Jo for her first day of 4th grade. When did she get so old. I remember the day she started school when they lived up north and driving up to spend the night so I could see her go to school for the first time.

Day 177 - Monogram Madness

Finally my card for today is done. I woke up early this morning and just wasn't in the mood to do the challenge. Had a few things to do today which included having my weekly Monday lunch with my friends Jeanne and Judy. After getting home I was going to watch a movie that came in the mail, but fell asleep instead and took a couple hour nap. Now that I am all refreshed decided to give today's challenge over at 365 Cards a try.
Today's challenge is to put a monogram on our card. I decided to do a birthday card for my sons girlfriend Melissa who's birthday is in October.
I got to use some of the new Memory Box papers and some dew drops that my friend Bonnie gave me. The monogram is by American Crafts (thickers) and the ribbon is from May Arts.

Glad to have Yesterday Over

Wow, what a day yesterday. I was up early ready for work and went outside to my car to find a flat tire. Went back into the house got Joe up to change it. 45 minutes later he comes into the house with two of the lug nut bolts snapped in half. Needless to say we had to call a tow truck to take the car in to have the tire changed. Since it was at the shop we bought 4 new tires that we would of needed anyways in the winter. I hate days like this. My car wasn't ready to pick up until 3 pm so did not go to work. So $604.73 later we were back home. The evening was better as my niece Shannon her husband Andrew and the kids came over to visit. So seeing them always cheers me up.
So today over at 365 Cards it is Super Sketchy Sunday. That means we have another great sketch to do. I love the Sunday sketches they are usually pretty easy todo as it is all open to interpretation. It was a chance to use one of my other pom-pom ribbons that I received from Carolyn.

Day 174 ~ Just Peachy

It is still raining here in Minneapolis and although we need the rain desperately I am a little tired of it. If you live in Minnesota and you love Cosmo Cricket make sure you sign up to take one of the classes that Lindsay is teaching on September 16th over at the "Scrapbook Shop" in Circle Pines. It is going to be a mini album using the christmas papers "Jolly by Golly". I called last night and talked to Rhonda and am all set to go. Stay tuned to my blog for some exciting news from me regarding this class.

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" is called Just Peachy and we are to create a card using Peach as the dominate color. Speaking of peachy I bought a whole crate of white peaches at Costco yesterday. YUMMY. You know I discovered that I don't really own a lot of peach colored papers. Luckily I found two papers both from the Graphic 45 Baby and Bride collection that would fit this challenge. I added a little bit of orange and then the pop of pink in the flowers in the girls basket. I think this will pass inspection by our leader Pam.

So it is Friday and it promises to be a busy weekend. My son Justin leaves at noon today to spend the weekend with his best friend Cassie and Aleks. Today I am running a few more errands as it is time to renew my car tabs, I also have a couple coupons to use at Archivers, and then I am running to Michaels to look for a new MS punch that I am looking for. Saturday I am working at Anchor Paper which is always fun and Sunday will be my day to catch up around the house. What do you have planned for the weekend?

Day 173 - Mixed Messages

Before we get to today's card I have to tell you about our trip to the doctor yesterday. My son Justin was going in for his bi-annual echocardiogram and they were running late because the tech ended up getting sick and had to go into the hospital so we had to wait for a new tech. In the meantime they came and gathered us all up into the middle of the clinic which is the lab because a tornado was spotted in downtown Minneapolis and was supposedly heading north. It was real pea-green outside and raining like crazy. We tracked the storm on computers and cell phones. Well I guess it did some damage to the convention center downtown (about 8 miles from me) and then headed south. It did some major damage in a neighborhood, but thankfully no one was hurt.
Now today's challege over at 365 Cards is to create a card with mixed messages on it, that means to make a sentiment using different methods to create the sentiment. I knew I was going to use my new Cosmo Cricket "Earth Love" papers. I am totally loving theses papers the colors are so yummy.
Well today is errand day for me trip to the post office, the bank, Costco to do some bulk buying, and the drug store. Hope you all have a great day!

Day 172 ~ ABC's & 123's

I went over to a favorite Scrapbook store here in Circle Pines to take a class last night and when I got there I found out the class had been cancelled. I guess the teacher called my house about the time I got there (teach me to be early). So I rescheduled the class for next month, but also found out that the one and only LINDSAY from Cosmo Cricket will be teaching a class there next month. The owner of the shop did not have details yet on what he would teach or what it would cost but I told her to sign me up. So I am signed up for the class and I am super excited. I am going to see if a few of my BFF's want to go with me.

Now today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to create a card using alpha stickers and include at least one number. I do have to say that I cardlifted this from the fabulous Ms. Amy. Thanks Amy. I could of used birthday paper on this card but wanted to use my new Cosmo Cricket Earth Love mini deck that I picked up last night at Archivers. If anyone runs across the new halloween, christmas, or boyfriend line in the 6x6 I would pay dearly if you would pick them up for me. I can't find them anywhere. Or if you find them online let me know where.

Tuesday To Do List

Well unfortunately I am not posting a card today have been trying to work on my todo list for the week. Number one on my list is getting my classes together that I am going to teach at Anchor Paper in September. I am definitely doing a Graphic 45 class using the new Christmas papers that are due to arrive any day now. You know I will do a vintage class using old photo's and those papers along with some fabulous ribbons and buttons. I am also working on a class using the new Cosmo Cricket Holiday papers and then finally a class using the new cuddlebug folders that are due to arrive in the next two weeks. I love the creating part.

Tonight I am taking a chipboard mini album class over in Circle Pines and can't wait for that class. My friends have taken it and the little book they made is just too cute. I will post it when I finish. Other things on my list were going to the bank and post office, making a hair cut appointment for my son, a doctor appointment, running to Costco (love that place) and to clean up my messy craftroom.

Now Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to make a card that doubles as something else, but we have a few rules NO gift card holders and NO money holders. Pam must be working overtime coming up with these challenges for us lately. I can just imagine what it is going to be like when we get to day 300.

I decided to do a post-it-note holder. I believe this was originally shown on SCS but I cardlifted from a gift I got at a recent retreat from my friend Carole. Really cute and easy to make. I apologize my pictures didn't turn out very well and when I went to retake photos the battery was dead.

Day 169 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Today is Super Sketchy Sunday over at 365 Cards and I was so glad to see that Pam had an easy one for us to do today. Since it was so easy I decided to once again use papers from my new 8x8 pad that I got at Archivers for $2.99 during their make n' take weekend last week. The paper is called Modern Milan and is by me&my BIG ideas. I love the colors in this collection as well as the assortment of patterns and you get 48 sheets 2 of each pattern. I also added some faux stitching with my tracing wheel and then a big button from my collection and some ribbon by may arts. I think the ribbon was the hardest part of the card. Do you know how hard it is to match orange colors? I must have 30 different orange ribbons and could not find one that was an exact match, but this is close enough.

Day 168 - Touch of Toile

I was so glad to see that I was not the only one over at 365 Cards who had to confirm what "toile" was. I had a good idea of what it was just needed good old GOOGLE to confirm it for me.

I dug through my papers a little bit, but as it was almost midnight I decided it would be quicker to just download a digital paper pack online. I found one that had 6 beautiful papers in lots of my favorite colors and although I am not crazy about my finished made in a rush card here it is.

Day 166 ~ Card Recipe

Came home from the garage sale last night dirty and tired decided to get cleaned up and then do the 3 card challenges over at 365 Cards that I had not done yet.

I knew this would be the easier challenge out of the 3 and love how it turned out.

The challenge was to use the following recipe on your card.

4x7 card

5 blossoms

glitter

wet embossing

3 different patterned papers

I used the cricut cartridge walk in my garden to get my 5 blossoms and I love getting them all scuffed up and wrinkled.

No Card Saturday

Just wanted to check in and say that hopefully tomorrow I will be back to posting some cards as I am going through card withdrawl. The garage sale is going great and I am selling lots of stuff and even with the cheap prices on everything you always get a few that want even a bigger discount. Well you know what I say to that "Hell No". Okay maybe I am a little nicer than that.
Garage Sales are a lot more work than I thought they would be.

No Card Thursday

Well it is the first day of the garage sale which means I need to be out of here by 6:30 and out the door to Eagan. Was going to do the card of the day but the challenge requires me to do some wet embossing and I don't want to take out the embossing gun as it will wake the rest of the family (okay just dh) son is still up watching a movie or something. Hope everyone enjoys the day and I may post a card later tonight if not too tired.

This is a picture of Micah (aka bubba) eating his fist trying to get all the Peas his Mom fed him into his mouth. As you can tell he got a little bit on his shoulder when attempting to shove it in faster by using his fist. This boy is too funny! Can you believe he is almost 5 months old and he has 6 teeth. OUCH

Day 165 - Shape Up Star

It is going to be a beautiful summer day here in Minnesota the temp is supposed to be around 85 degrees. Hopefully it won't be too humid as I am spending the day at my niece Shannon's house and we are putting the finishing touches on our garage sale that starts tomorrow. I have 3 full boxes of wood mount stamps, sizzix dies and a sizzix side kick machine (brand new in the box) to sell besides all my other goodies. If you are in the Eagan area stop by I am sure I can sell you something you need.

The challenge today over at 365 cards was to create a card with stars being either the shape of the card or the focal point of the card. Well you know I just had to do buttons and then I decided to do it very clean and very simple looking. I like how it turned out ~ what do you think?

Day 164 ~ Color Scheme

Wow, I cannot believe that my visitor counter is going to hit 20,000 fairly soon and I think when it happens I am going to give away some blog candy here. Not sure what it is yet, but I will definitely be starting a little pile of goodness for that day.

Now I want to do some little blog candy this week so I am going to do a drawing on Sunday of all my followers, so if you do not follow my blog sign up to do so and then Sunday I will pick someone to get a special gift from me.

Monday ~ Day 163 ~ Try a Technique: Masking

Well it is Monday and that means I get to go and spend sometime with my BFF Jeanne and then maybe go to lunch with her twin Judy. After that it is back to getting the stuff ready for the garage sale. I didn't realize I had so much junk (hmm I mean stuff).

The challenge today over at 365 Cards was to use masking on your card. Well I need to admit that I am a masking Virgin. Yep, you heard me right a virgin. I have never used a mask in my stamping and after today it might be something I try again. My card isn't perfect I missed a couple places and I tried coloring with a water brush and some Adirondack acrylic ink refill.

Oh No Not Glitter ~ Day 162 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Well we had some pretty exciting weather here in Minnesota last night about 9:30 I was sitting in my craft room with the fan on and listening to some music and I thought I heard a siren so I turned off the music and then the fan and realized the Tornado sirens were going off. I immediately yelled to my son to check the weather and found out that a tornado had possibly touched down just west of us and that there were several funnel clouds in the suburbs around us. When it gets hot here in Minnesota it usually brings severe weather and yesterday was the perfect day for it. We had very hot and very humid weather mixed in with some rain. Yuck.

Finally it is Sunday and the start of a new week over at 365 Cards and this weeks sponsor is Art Glitter. Well any of you who know me ~ know that I do not like glitter, actually I don't like anything shiney. Sunday is also Super Sketch Sunday and Pam had a sketch for us to follow. Simple sketch for me equals naked card. Well you know I just had to use my new twilight paper again today along with my new Martha Stewart Spider punch that my friend Jeanne bought for me this week. I just love spiders.

Today I need to get busy and start getting stuff ready for the garage sale that I am having with my niece on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next week. Saturday & Day 161 ~ Cool Collage

It is Saturday and my day to work at Anchor Paper Express on University today. Can't wait to see what we have gotten in that is new, touch all the 1000's of ribbons we have and talk to the customers. It is also Make n' Take day using the August stamp of the month which is a Northwoods Owl. I haven't seen the card yet, but am sure it will be fabulous.

It is also a sad day here at our house as my son Justin's fiance Melissa will be heading home to Chicago today. She has been with us a little over 5 weeks and now needs to go home as school will be starting in a few weeks.

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to create a card that was covered with pattern papers and embellishments. I think I managed to do that thanks to this new fabulous paper by Memory Box. My friend Tami got me addicted to this stuff and Dave who owns the company just does an amazing job on creating the papers. The dewdrops on my card are courtesy of my friend Bonnie. She found an amazing store while on a scrapbook retreat that sells these babies by the scoop in 24 lucious colors. Each scoop is the size of the jar that you pay $5.99 for and this store sells them in bulk by the scoop for $.80 each. I am taking a roadtrip with my friends Bonnie and Jeanne in September to get my own. In the meantime Bonnie shared her stash with me. I have such wonderful friends.

Day 160 ~ Lovely Lace (or not)

I am so excited it is Friday and Make n' Take weekend at Archiver's. I plan on running over there first thing this morning to pick up my free box of American Crafts ribbon and then doing the mini album project.

Today's challenge over at 365 Cards was to create a card with lace on it. I thought I was going to create a card with a a paper pieced flower and some lovely lace ribbon and then remembered that I had not yet inked up my new PTI set everyday button bits yet. I stamped the bike a couple times and could not decide if I liked it better colored in or not. Finally decided liked it better not colored (or at least on this clean and simple card). With my love affair with buttons you can bet this is going to quickly become my favorite set so get ready to see alot of it.

Day 159 - Setting the Scene - INDOORS

Oh my gosh. I didn't think I was ever going to get this card done today. Pam if you are reading this ~ this was one heck of a challenge. The challenge today over at 365 Cards was to create an indoor scene on your card. Right there I knew I was in trouble. I could of used the same PTI set I used a few days ago, but didn't want to so went on an internet search for a digi stamp. Well I found one that was doable but when I started printing out and pasting the pieces I thought it would never end.

So here is my card hope you like it. Yep, it is a Christmas Card was almost going to get rid of the window and tree and just have the curtains with the table and chair. But what the heck I need some Christmas Cards.

You can't tell but I even used the new Polar White Flower Soft for snow in the window edges.

For all of you who usually come over to check out my blog for a card first thing in the morning just want to tell you that I am working on it. The challenge over at 365 Cards is a little hard this morning and I have been working on my card for about 2 hours. Will be back later to show you.

Day 158 ~ What's Your Sign?

No, I am not talking about astrological signs. Today's challenge over at 365 Cards is to create a sign on our card. It can be stamped, made out of patterned paper or you can create a sign out of your card. I was so happy finally this week a challenge I could do with ease. I had boughy these stamps at Archiver's about a year ago in the $1 bin and had never used them and now I was going to ink them up.

I wanted to add a couple more of the cute little hippo's, but that would of meant using a card larger than 4.25" square.

I am off today to Anchor Paper in St. Paul to meet up with my friends Bonnie and Jeanne. We are going to be designing the cards for our September Card Club. The theme will be Fall/Halloween. Once the cards are designed and the board is up in the store then we are having a pot luck luncheon with everyone at the store. I made homemade potato salad for the party. This is a party for my BFF Jeanne. I can't wait to check out what has come in new to the store since I was last there. Last time I picked up the new Cosmo Cricket Christmas and Earth Love papers.

Day 157 - Imagine This Sunflowers

The challenge today over at 365 Cards was to use a sunflower on our card. It did not have to be a stamped sunflower, you just needed one on your card. Of course I didn't have a stamp for this so had to rely on a photograph of one. Hope you enjoy~

First Inchie Card

Last Friday my friend Tami and I went to Smudges for an afternoon of talking, stamping and eating pizza for lunch. They have the most fantastic stamps at this little shop and I was so happy to find that they carry Karen Lockhart stamps and the stuff for making "Inchie Cards". I immediately bought the chicken and last night I finally had a chance to play with my stuff. I think I am quite pleased with it and actually like how I colored it. (normally I do not color on my stamps as I am not that good at it yet).

Finally ~ Day 156 Ad Inspired ??

I apologize for the delay in getting my card made and posted today, unfortunately I was not inspired by the ad we were to use. (sorry Gloria) I don't know how many times I logged onto 365 Cards hoping something would jump out at me and didn't.

After spending some time with my friend Jeanne and lunch with her and her sister Judy I came home looked at the ad again and decided a nap sounded better. After waking and getting dinner out of the way I decided to give it one more look. Finally after lookinng at that picture for the 50th time I just wanted to relax and so the card was created.
