Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge

Okay, maybe 3 times is the charm. Blogger is being a bugger for me and is not allowing me to post my card tonight. With the completion of this card I am all caught up on my weekly challenges. Now if I could just get caught up on my scrapbooking.

Loved this sketch so easy and fast (except for the upload problems). I used Cosmo Cricket Snorkel paper and tags, some ribbon from Michael's and a couple of KaiserCraft Crystal Gems and I created the wording with my label maker.

This card is totally me if I am not barefoot then I have flip-flops on.

Paper Popsicles Challenge #6

I had so much fun doing the card sketch at Paper Popsicle last week I thought I would go back and do it again, and besides it gave me a chance to use June Bug by BasicGrey. It was a rather simple sketch (the kind I like) so a little BasicGrey paper and embellishments and then a stamp by American Crafts and my card was done.

It has finally cooled down here in Minnesota after the hot weather last week so my DH has a beef roast with all the trimmings in the oven for our dinner this evening. I smell it even upstairs which means dinner should be in about 2 hours. Yummy~

CPS Sketch 21

I am really loving this new BasicGrey "June Bug" collection and am using it on yet another card. This card is for the challenge over at Card Patterns. I think this paper is very vintage looking in a new wayand with a little distressing of the edges with ink and my edge tool and a little faux stitching it completes the look I was going for. I used some ribbon that I bought up in Pine City along with a Tim Holtz Adage ticket. The picture is from my ever growing photo collection.

Day 122 - It's A Wrap

So today Pam over at "365 Cards" gave us our orders and they were to create a card using wrapping paper. I don't know about you but I have used gift bags for over 8 years now and wasn't even sure if I owned wrapping paper. I knew I might have some in the bedroom that would be at least bought in this decade, but Joe was still sleeping and I didn't want to explain to him that I needed it for a card challenge (somehow I didn't think he would understand this early in the morning). I went into our storage room where we keep Christmas decorations and my gift bags and eureka I found some paper. Looks like we are having a Christmas Card today.

ESS Sketch 43

I love the sketch this week over at "Eat Sleep Stamp" so simple, yet I had the hardest time trying to figure to stamp or not to stamp. I decided this sketch was the perfect opportunity to use my new Lemonade papers and buttons by BasicGrey. I added just a small piece of ribbon from American Crafts and considered the card complete. The verse inside says Thinking of You and has a strip of the polka dot paper along the bottom as well as a couple of small butterflies that I punched out of the same papers using the Martha Stewart butterfly punches.

Card Positioning Systems Sketch 122

I met a friend at Archiver's today and I couldn't wait to get home to do a card using my

new BasicGrey June Bug. If you have not seen this collection or Lemonade they are to die for. They have wonderful new embellishments for these two collections. The ones used on this card are called "pops" and the Lemonade collection comes with these cute felt embellishments called "woolies".

Along with the BasicGrey paper and the pop embellishment I used some American Crafts ribbon and Neenah Black and Avalanche White linen cardstock. I inked the edges of the paper with Ranger distressed ink in Vintage Photo. Card measures 3.5" x 6".

Exciting News

I have some exciting news to share with you Leah at "Paper Blooms" has asked me to be a Guest Designer on her blog July 15th - 29th. I am really excited and hope all of you will come on over and play along with me. This will be my first time being a Guest Designer and I am excited and scared at the same time.

Day 121 - Four Seasons

Well today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to create a card with all 4 seasons on it. Well I knew I didn't have a stamp set that could do this and I could of done multiple stamps and created the card, but I immediately decided to dust off my QuicKutz dies and use them. I used to love using these and don't know why I ever stopped (maybe because I bought a Cricut).

Today's card is done using Neenah Avalanche White Linen, with some faux stitching around each square, I put a couple lines on using my score-pal, then I added some Ranger distress Vintage Photo ink around each piece, a few buttons, some crystals and I wrote each season on the card.

Today I have an eye doctor appointment to get some new contacts and then am meeting a friend at Archiver's and hopefully I will buy the new 6x6 paper pads of BasicGrey called JuneBug and Lemonade.

Tissue Flower for Baby

I was searching a few of the blogs that I visit and while hopping from blog to blog I found a post by Lauren over at Splitcoast showing how to make the tissue flowers. Well I had recently made a tissue flower very similar to this using glimmer mist and different size circles of tissue paper. This flower is created using the mega flower punch and 8 layers of tissue paper and one piece of basis pink cardstock. I stamped a hero arts script stamp onto each flower in versamark and then I attached my button to the flowers. after that is complete you just crinkle up the flowers until you get one you like.

This card is going to be sent to my nephew Mike and his wife who just had a baby girl last week. She is Elyana and she arrived 8 weeks early and although she is small 2 lbs. 11 oz. she is doing great and they hope to take her home in about 6 weeks.

Mojo Monday #92

I figured since tomorrow is Monday I best get it together and get my card done for the challenge over at Mojo Monday.

I decided to use Cosmo Cricket Early Bird papers, along with another new Unity stamp set called Rain & Flowers (got it at the garage sale on Wednesday for $9.00), I used some Fiskars rain dots, my new yummy American Crafts ribbon(I bought all 6 colors of this stuff), Neenah natural white and Red Linen as well as some Ranger Distress ink, and my oval nesties.

Day 120 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Well it is early Sunday morning here and the family is still asleep so the only sound I hear is me typing (I am a loud typer) and the birds outside singing. The weather is absolutely beautiful a nice cool breeze coming in the windows. I love this weather makes me think of fall.

Well being that it is Sunday it is sketch day over at "365 Cards". I decided on this card to use my new Unity stamp set that I got at the Wednesday garage sale this week. I got the "Tickled Pink" set for $3.00 what a steal and since they are located here in Minnesota I usually get my stuff in 1 - 2 days.

I used BasicGrey papers from the "Bittersweet" 6x6 paper pad, a few BasicGrey buttons, Oval Nestabilities, faux stitching on the paper ribbon, and some paper piecing on the baby carriage. Inside it says "Tickled Pink" which is the other stamp that was in this set.

Day 119 - Seeing A Silhouette

It's a little cooler here in Minnesota this morning and we are getting a nice rain ~ which means that once the rain stops we are in trouble as it is going to be HOT & HUMID. I have to work all day today over at Anchor Paper on University so if you are in the neighborhood stop and say hello. What are your plans for today?

The challenge for today over at "365 Cards" is to have a silhouette on your card. Not an easy challenge if you don't have the right stamp. I had to dig through so man stamps to find something I think is suitable. I used the SU Prehistoric Pals set, some BasicGrey Archaic papers with a little bit of distressing, some Fiskars Raindots, and I did some faux stitching on the paperstrips in white. The Giggle stamp is a new one I picked up for scrapbooking. I can't remember who it is made by I think it might be Stampendous.

Card Patterns Sketch 20

The more I use the Cosmo CricketEarlyBird collection the more I love it. I have been wanting to use these chipboard flowers for awhile now and this sketch was the perfect one.

I added a little faux stitching around the edges of the paper and it was done. Any easy card for a friend.

Blog Candy Winner

Day 118 - I've Been Framed

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to create a card with a frame. I knew that I didn't have any actual frames to put on my card, so it was either cut out a frame or stamp a frame. When looking through my newer stamps that were laying on my desk I saw that the new Unity KOM for June has the perfect frame. I love the little cherries and knew that I had to use the 3-D Crystal Laquer. (hard to believe I have had this for about 5 years and haven't used until lately). I added some May Arts ribbon and did some faux stitching around the card. I thought I would also show you how I finished off the inside of my card.

Paper Play Challenges Winner

I am so excited the Christmas Card I made for the challenge over at Paper Play this week. Even though I am having a bad week I feel like I have hit the jackpot the last few days. The prize was a pack of BasicGrey Wisteria papers. Now that is one great prize.

Day 117 - Simply Stamped

Well it looks like it will be hot again here in Minnesota this afternoon, but right now we are having thunderstorms and it is raining.

Today's challenge over at "365 Cards" was to create a card with one stamped image and one stamped sentiment ~ that's it. It is okay to color in the image and it is okay to use any color cardstock we just can't use any patterned paper and no other embellishments. Well I knew I was in trouble when I saw this challenge as I am not very good at coloring. Okay, I could use the Copic markers (NOT), or the Tombow markers (NOT) or I could pull out my Crayola Colored Pencils and gamasol and get down to business. I decided to use some of my stamps from the Unity June KOM. I love the ice cream cone and the sentiment. after coloring everything I decided to have it look like the ice cream was melting (because it is so hot here you know that cone would not last) so I added some 3-D laquer and then I colored the cone with a spica clear glitter pen to give it a little bit of shine.

I Heart 2 Stamp Sketch Challenge

Okay, this is going to be my final post for this evening this is the card I created for the challenge over at I heart 2 stamp. I used Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday, along with some distressing ink, my EK Retro flower punch, hemp cord, FooFaLa button, and my Little Leaves Sizzix die from Stampin' Up. I ran my tracing wheel around all the pieces of patterned paper and did some faux stitching.

Mom & Dad Mini Clear Album

This is a book that I created of my parents before they had kids back when they were first dating and married. It has many more pages this is just a few. This was my first attempt at making a clear acrylic album. I like how it turned out and may have to just do a few for my sisters for Christmas this year.

I need to start spending sometime scrapbooking as it seems all my time lately is going to card making, job hunting and studying for my class.

A friend and I were talking about scrapbooking and creating mini albums or what I call "Event Books" and I told her I would post some of the pages from my book when I went to New York City not long after 911. All I can say was that it was amazing and I will never forget walking onto the platform in front of where the twin towers once stood.

I could not put all the pages on this so will do a second post.

Mr. Campy Wins At Paper Popsicles

I was doing my normal checking out the challenge blogs I do to see if they had posted the new challenges for the week and when I stopped at "Paper Popsicles" there was my MR CAMPY card and my name in the winner's box. How exciting is that.

This was the card that I sent to Lindsay along with the Christmas Card that I posted. He wrote back that he loved them and told me about the DT call they were doing. He did stress that he was not in charge of the DT call he was the messenger.

Winter Wonderland (I wish) - Week 4

It is really hard to make Christmas Cards when it is 87 degrees out and humid. Since today is cooler than yesterdays 95 degrees thought I would get this card done and posted. The challenge for week 4 over at "Winter Wonderland" is called "A Blue Christmas" we are to create a Christmas Card with Blue being the dominating color used. I went into my big clear plastic tub that I have labelled Christmas and pulled out everything that was blue or could be changed to blue. The tag and papers are from BasicGrey's Figgy Pudding Collection from last year as are the postal rubons. The happy holidays is a Making Memories rubon, the snowflakes were done on the cuttlebug and then I used Rangers distressed inks in Broken China, Faded Jeans, & Vintage Photo. I added a couple of KaiserCraft crystals to the snowflakes and some May Arts ribbons along with one of my vintage photo's.

Now on to Day 116 at "365 Cards". The challenge for today is "Keep it to Yourself Wedding Card", which means we are to create a wedding card but not put any wording on the front. You just need to know by looking at the card that it is for a wedding. You may however put a sentiment on the inside.

For my card I used Neenah Avalanche White Linen, Cuttlebug Heart Embossing folder, 2 different May Arts Ribbons and a pair of Wedding rings that I bought at Michael's in the cake decorating area. Enjoy~

Day 115 - Piece It Together

All I can say this morning is Dang it is hot here in Minnesota and the weatherman says we are going into the 90's again today with lot's of humidity and that means my hair is going to curl even more than normal.

The challenge over at '365 Cards' was to create a card using paper piecing. I knew immediately what stamps and papers I was going to use. I know that it is no longer Cosmo Cricket week, but I could not pass up a chance to use my Double Deck with Girl Friday one more time. I added a computer generated sentiment and colored in the stamens of my flowers with my black glaze pen to make them pop and shine just a little bit.

This card is also for CAS20 over at SCS as today's challenge is to do a card using paper piecing. If you have never been over to SplitCoast Stampers drop by. They have some amanzing card makers over there. I especially love the Clean and Simple challenges.

CPS121 Sketch

I originally thought this was going to be an easy sketch and once I sat down to do it I found out it is not as easy as I thought it would be. I have had this Cherry background paper for ever so decided today was the day I cut into this fabulous paper. I added some red linen card stock, I used some May arts ribbons and I stamped my cherries from the Unity KOM for June. I colored the cherries with some red 3-D crystal laquer then I colored the leaves in green and added some spica glitter to the leaves.

Day 114 - Lovin' Lavender

First off I must admit I am not a fan of lavender or purple so right away I knew I was in trouble when I saw the challenge for today over at "365 Cards". The challenge was to make lavender the dominant color on our card. I think I accomplished that and I threw in a little of my favorite color (green) and some purple for a friend.

I used papers from Prima called Nursery Tales. Very soft papers in pinks, grees, and lavenders. I used a lavender colored bazzil paper for the base of the card and Stampin' Up Little Leaves. I used my EK retro flower and ran it through my swiss dots embossing folder and then I sprayed it with fully purple glimmer mist spray and although you can't tell from the picture it has an irridescent look to it. I stamped thinking of you (Unity Stamp June KOM) on the paper. I think it turned out okay what do you think?

Day 113 - Super Sketchy Sunday

Well it is a new week and a new challenge over at "365 Cards". Today I used BasicGrey papers from the "Lime Rickey" collection. I love the sketch for today, so easy and once I decided on papers knew exactly what I was going to do. I used the EK Retro flower punch added a few buttons from BasicGrey and a rubon from Pebblesinc. and the card was born.

Baby update: I talked with my sister Linda yesterday and she said the baby was doing great. She had lost 1.5 oz. and now weighs 2 lbs. 11 oz. her name is Elyana Teresa. She will be in the hospital for about 6 - 8 weeks.

The other great news is that Micah (3 months old) got his first tooth yesterday. He had been drooling like crazy lately and a little on the crabby side and now we know why.
