Seize the Birthday

I was all set to post my card for this weeks challenge at Seize the Birthday and even had it done a week in advance as I knew that Lesley would have us use same sketch as last week only this week we would do a masculine take on it.

Well I had the card done, the post done and scheduled to go live when the day came.

Yesterday, I got an email from Lesley asking me to be the guest designer this week. Of course I said YES.

That meant making a new card using one of Lori's wonderful images as she is the sponsor this month at Seize the Birthday. Since I used to be on Lori's design team I had no problem finding the perfect image to use. (don't tell anyone I think I have almost all of her images)

So here is my card. Isn't he a cute little digi? Papers are by My Minds Eye from Lost and Found 3 and that polaroid frame is by Papertrey Ink.

Here is the sketch.

And just so my original card doesn't go unseen here it is.

I used a new stamp by Whipper Snapper that I picked up about 6 months ago but never used. The polaroid frame is by PTI, papers are by MME from the Lime Twist collection, wood stars are by Studio Calico and the sentiment is by KaiserCraft, the alpha stickers are from my stash.

I hope you will stop over at the Seize the Birthday blog and see what the design team created with the sketch this week. Tell them I sent you, I am trying to get brownie points so I can apply for the next design team call, but don't tell Lesley.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Project Life Week 4

I can't believe it is week 4 of the new year already and I am continuing to keep up with my Project Life layouts.

Photos are a little off this week as we are having some really grey days here and not much natural light coming through the windows.

Here is the right side of my layout and yes that is a photo of me. I am not one who likes their photo taken as I have body issues, but needed a photo for a magazine publication that I will be in sometime this spring. Yep, me. One of my goals this year was to get published and that is happening. So excited, but not so much about having to get a photo of me and have it published.

The left side layout is some photos of Justin as it was his birthday this past week and the baby picture with the teddy bear is what I posted on his FaceBook home page.

I added a small insert to my album this week to put in a few things I wanted to keep like a card from my sister, some receipts for gas and the bank as well as the top to my ribbon that I use when I make my handmade wrinkle ribbon.

Are you doing project life this year? If so leave me a comment and let me know as I would love to come and look at your pages.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

holiday cheer ~ mm #47

We have a new challenge here at Merry Monday that we will be doing every month and it is called Tic~Tac~Toe.

Pick three elements either up or down or across or diagonal and create a card using just those three items.

For my card I went straight across the middle.

Clean and Simple (check)
Color with Markers (check)
White (check)

What three items will you choose for your card? Can't wait to see.

Don't forget to stop over at the Merry Monday blog and see what the rest of the design team came up with.

thank you ~ SS139

This week at Sentimental Sundays we are being sponsored by  Sweet N' Sassy and they have given the design team a few images to work with. I picked Timid Timothy for my card.

We have a theme challenge this week and we want to see Thank You cards.

I used papers from My Minds Eye 'lost and found 3' along with stickers by Echo Park. The polaroid frame is by PTI.

I was inspired by the sketch over at the Paper Players.

Please stop over at the blog and see what the rest of the design team has come up with for this weeks challenge. I hope you play along with us and don't forget the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

play ~ TPE #44

This week over at The Pink Elephant Scrapbook Challenge we have a sketch for you to try.

This sketch took me a little longer than I thought it would as I took forever to find some papers that would work with this photo of Micah.

I finally picked papers by Little Yellow Bicycle and some Thickers alpha letters.

Make sure and stop over at the blog and see what the rest of the design team has created with the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

I love...

This week at A Day for Daises we are showcasing a few more of the images from last weeks release called "I love..."

I used the image my mom's tummy which I think is such a sweet image. Tammy amazes me every week with her amazing images and I feel so lucky to get a chance to play with them each week and make them come alive.

For my card I used papers and enamel dots by My Minds Eye from the Lost and Found 3 collection along with my Copic markers.

I also used this weeks Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch.

Please make sure and stop by the ADFD blog and see what the rest of the design team have created.

birthday wishes ~ STB3

Just a quick card to share with you for the this weeks new sketch over at Seize the Birthday.

Love playing along each week. This week it is all about making a birthday card for a girl and next week we will be using the same sketch and making a card for a little boy. I am cheating a little and also working on my little boy card so it is already to go next week when the challenge goes live.

For my card I used papers and chipboard from the October Afternoon 'calk walk' collection. The sentiment is from a stamp set by KaiserCraft.

Project Life ~ Week 3

Happy to report that I am still keeping up with my Project Life and I think it is because I have set deadlines for myself. I think I work much better when I have a deadline.

I need to apologize for the dark pictures this week we aren't getting a lot of sun in the rooms I usually take my photos in this week.

If you saw my post yesterday "washi wednesday" I shared the details on some of my journal cards with you. I used washi tapes and stamps from the Stamp Your Life shop.

Once again this week my husband and son have managed to stay out of the photos. I told them we all have to be in this book whether we want to or not so I will try again next week.

It has been a joyous week for us with the birth of my newest great-nephew Braydon and some sad news too regarding my Uncle Davids cancer. I made the decision to put everything in this book so some things will be harder to write about and some things will probably be hidden journaling but you will see most of it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

thoughts of you ~ fms70

A quick card for you today that I created for this weeks sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.

I am trying to use up a some of my older stuff and this card uses one of my oldest BasicGrey collections 'stella ruby'. It is probably one of my all time favorite collections as well.

The butterfly is from the Crate Paper 'random' collection and the sentiment is Paper Smooches.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Stamp Your Life, LLC. ~ Washi Wednesday

(this is my 2nd post today, please scoll down for my Artful Delight post)

It is Washi Wednesday over on the Stamp Your Life blog and my week to show you what I created with one of my favorite products out there.

Here is a look at the 3x4 journal cards I created for my week 3 Project Life this week using Washi tape and stamps from SYL.

Here is a closer look at each individual card along with the products I used from the store.

On this card I used Freckled Fawn Arrow washi tape along with this 'remember stamp'.

My next card uses the 'made with love' washi tape along with one of the circle stamps from 'hello circles' (these are currently on sale in the store) and one of the arrow stamps from 'this way please'.

My next card does not use washi tape but I wanted to show you one of the new flair badges that are also available in the shop. As well as my newest great-nephew Braydon.

My last card uses the 'heart cloud' washi tape and the week day stamp set is from the 'dated' set.

Stop back tomorrow when I will share my week 3 Project Life with you.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

forever

Today I am sharing my last card using the January card kit from Artful Delight. I have had so much fun creating Valentine's Day cards all month long.

Everything on my card is from the kit. I added some black ink over the resist heart and then wiped off the excess, painted the chipboard 'forever' from the kit and then added glossy accents on top. I sure love that look for chipboard letters.

Here is a look at the entire kit for January.

I will be back next week with a look at the new kit for February.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

cards for Grayson

Yesterday, my friend Amy posted about a sweet little boy named Grayson who is two years old and has cancer. You can read her post here.

A card drive was set up by Danielle from Neat and Tangled and you can find her post along with all the needed information here.

He is about to begin chemotherapy and they have asked us the card making community to take a little time and make a card or two to cheer him up. Grayson also has an older brother Aydan who is four years old. Both boys love getting mail.

Here is the card I made this morning for Grayson using an adorable robot image by Tammy at ADFD and the sketch is Sweet Sunday.

I will be creating a card for Aydan today and will share that with you either later today or tomorrow.

Here is the important info:

The drive will run from January 21 - February 28
(If they arrive late because they are International that's okay too!)

Send them here:
Grayson Savery and/or Aydan Savery

Isn't Amy and Danielle the best?

retro sketches #47

It is freezing here today in Minnesota and I think our current temp is -12 F with a high of 0 forecast. Yesterday we didn't even get out of the negative numbers.

I couldn't sleep this morning and was up before the chickens so caught up on a couple of shows that I watch and created a few cards.

First up is a card I created for this weeks challenge over at Retro Sketches.

I used one of my favorite stamps that I picked up at Michael's for a $1 awhile back along with a sentiment by Technique Tuesday, paper is Neenah solar white linen (my favorite). The little gems are from my stash.

Here is a look at the great sketch for this week.

celebrate the season ~ MM #47

Have I told you I love Monday's?

I love Merry Monday and this week we have a theme challenge for you to try.

Yep, we want you to use a bird on your card.

I didn't have a stamp of a bird so dug through my Project Life journal cards and found this terrific one.

I decided to go a little non-traditional with this Christmas Card.

I think it works, what do you think?

(this is my second post today, please scroll down for my Sentimental Sundays post)

This past week was full of good news I was asked to join the Scribbles Designs design team and was totally excited to be able to play along with this talented group of women.

Today they are introducing the newbies so make sure to stop over and meet all of the Scribblers over on the challenge blog.

I thought I would share a couple of valetine cards I made using some of Sandy's digitial images which can be in the store.

First up is a card I created using "brr my valentine". He is just totally too cute and so fun and easy to color in.

Next up I used this cute little truck image called "hearts truck" suitable for any little or big guy in your life.

Hope to see you playing along with us on our current challenge. You can get all the details over on the blog here.

ozzy ~ TPE43

(this is my 2nd post today, please scroll down for my Artful Delight post)

Time for a new color challenge over at The Pink Elephant Scrapbook Challenge

I had a hard time coming up with the colors for this weeks challenge in my paper stash so had to bring out a little bit of the rebel and mix in a couple of other colors. I think overall I stuck to the color challenge though.

Meet Ozzy who is my nephew Jason's dog. He is such a fun, photogenic dog that I just had to use this photo that his wife Leah took.

Make sure and stop over at the TPE blog and check out what the rest of the design team created. Hope you will play along with us this week.

love

Saturday and my turn to share a card with you using this months card kit at Artful Delight. I have had so much fun using this kit this month and lots of valentines to send out as a result of using up this kit.

I fell in love with this lace tulle and just had to make a flower with it after seeing Ashley on the Scrapbook design team do the same thing.

I added a button from the kit as well as the love embellishment from the kit. Sewed some with my machine and the card was done. Fastest card I have made in weeks.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.
