last of the new kids

Today is the last of my new kids by Lori Boyd releases for May and also my last post as a member of her design team. I want to thank Lori for letting me be on such a fabulous design team for the past two terms.

Okay I need to admit I think "amy" is my favorite of the new releases of this month.

rain, rain, go away...

We have had a lot of rain this Spring and this weekend is no different. Looks like today will be spent inside in the craftroom.

I have a couple cards to share and first up is this great digital image by my friend Arielle Gordon from "Wax Fruit Company". As soon as I saw this image "just the car" I knew that I had to have it. My parents had this exact same car when the 5 of us girls were growing up.

Sorry the picture is so dark but if I didn't take the picture I might never get this card posted. You can't tell by the picture but I did all the bumpers and trim in silver.

I used the sketch from this weeks The Sweet Stop challenge and papers by October Afternoon from Modern Homemaker.

Next up I have a card using this weeks sketch over at Sweet Sunday. I used papers from the sweet threads collection by BasicGrey along with wildflower garden stamps by PTI.

Have you checked out the challenge this week over at Less is More? It is called "pick a square".

I saw Chrissie's card and knew immediately I wanted to use some of my Hero Arts flower stamps.

I used my Distress inks on the stamps and then I used a sentiment from PTI "wildflower garden".

Here is the sketch showing the 5 different squares that you could pick from.

So any plans for today? I am hoping it doesn't rain as I need to get out in the yard and pull some weeds, lots of weeds.

I got a couple of new papers this past week and could not wait to play with them.

First up is the new 6x6 release by Memory Box called "valise". It is absolutely kraft perfection.

I used the sketch 219 over at CPS for my inspiration.

Next up are new papers and miscellany embellishments from October Afternoon called "rocket age".

I made a birthday card for Micah and will have to put it away until next March when he turns 3.

I used the deconstructed sketch by jen as my inspiration for this card.

I used papers and rosette flower by BasicGrey from the "sweet threads" collection.

Next up is a card I created using this weeks Techno Stamper sketch and a couple new dies I got in the mail today by Memory Box.

Don't you just love that big rosette die? I also got the delicate vine die and put that on the inside of the card.

Okay the last card this evening uses my new PTI stamp set called "wildflower garden". I just love this stamp set and am sure you will be seeing a lot of it.

I used Tim Holtz Distress inks and a Martha Stewart punch on this card.

UP north

I was working on this layout Sunday when the tornado hit and just finished it up today.

I love these tall trees that are right in the front yard of my brother-in-laws cabin up in Northern Minnesota. My husband takes our son and one of his friends on a trip each year to fish, relax and walk about the 220 acres of land.

I used October Afternoon Campfire papers and embellishments, I stamped my favorite tree stamp on the tag with Tim Holtz distress stains and inks.

I used the sketch over at Inspired Blueprints for my inspiration.

Update

I just wanted to update everyone to say that we are okay and were really lucky that the tornado that went through Minneapolis missed our house. It literally missed us by a half block in each direction.

Looking at all the damage that has been done is unbelieveable and I am so thankful that we are all okay.

After 4 days we finally have the power back on and now it is time to clean out the fridge and try and go to the grocery store.

I am looking forward to just spending a little time in the craftroom now.

lollipop bear

This new "lollipop bear" by Lori Boyd is just absolutely adorable and I had so much fun coloring it.

I used October Afternoon "campfire" papers and a sentiment by PTI.

When I was creating this card I was imagining the little bear standing by the lake and now that I look at it he is kind of hanging by the lake.  Maybe I should of just made him a little bigger and put him in the middle of the card.

I used a sketch from CPS from a few weeks ago for my card.

It is another rainy day here in Minnesota so decided to have a scary movie marathon and make cards.

I created this card for a couple of different challenges. I was inspired by the sketch over at Techno Stamper.

the real mccoy

I have a quick card to share with you before I head off to work at the LSS.

Lori Boyd brought all of her puddle jumpers home to the By Lori Designs shop and I immediately fell in love with "real mccoy".

For inspiration I used this weeks sketch from "the deconstructed sketch" challenge and papers by My Minds Eye from the Stella and Rose collection "Hattie".

glass slipper

This weeks new release over at A Day for Daisies is all about Cinderella.

I got to play with the glass slipper but I decided to turn it into a red high heel as I could not get it to look like glass when I initally colored it.

I added a little bling to the shoe along with some embossing and mini stickers and the invitation was born.

sunshine...

Finally it has stopped raining and the sun is shining in Minnesota.

I have a couple cards to share with you today.

First up is a card I made for the newest challenge over at "jingle belles" and the challege was to feature a santa claus on your card.

Up next is my card for this weeks CAS-ual Fridays challenge which is to use Buttons and Twine on your card.

Here is the card I created for this challenge.

Papers are echo park "for the record", I used a spellbinders "foilage" for the leaves and the sentiment is a rub-on.

My last card is one of those just because cards. I had some scraps of Graphic 45 papers left over along with some of my handmade wrinkle ribbon. I put a quick flower together and...like magic this card was born.

I finally found a sketch challenge that I actually liked the sketch on so decided to make a card this morning.

I pulled out my new BasicGrey "sweet threads" 6x6 pad along with a stamp by Unity and my spellbinders die "foilage" and put this card together in about 10 minutes.

My inspiration came from this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch. I rotated the sketch to fit my stamp.

A couple of cards to share with you today using some new stamp sets I have purchased recently.

My first card uses the new train set and die from PTI along with papers by MME from the "lime twist" collection.

Next up is a new set by Inky Antics "birthday elephant honeyPOPS collection. Isn't he just adorable?

What is fun about this set is that it includes fun images and sentiments for the inside of the card and if you buy the honeycomb papers you can embellish it even more. See how the balloon fans out when you open the card?

We just got these in at the LSS where I work and I know I will probably be buying a few of these in the near future.
