50,000 Visitors ~ Blog Candy

Updated. I am back from North Dakota and will be picking a winner for the blog candy on Friday so you still have time to enter.

I am currently in North Dakota visiting with my oldest sister and my other sisters Son and his family.

I see that my blog is going to reach 50,000 visitors very soon and that may happen while I am away so I need to give away something to mark this occassion.

just because

I just finished watching the movie "the backup plan" and I loved it. But I am not someone who can just sit and watch a movie so decided to make a couple cards in the process.

My friend Yvonne does this great feature on her blog where she introduces us to other crafty people and then does a card challenge. Well this weeks person is Karen and she shared a tutorial on how to make her grid design backgrounds.

For a first try I am pretty happy with how it turned out ~ I see a few things I will definitely change if I do this type of background again. The stamp set I used is by American Crafts and the ribbon is some of the wrinkle ribbon I made this past weekend.

This next card is a new technique that I had to try out once I saw it on my friend Chrissie's blog. You start out by blending your inks for the background and then stamp your image repeatedly in colors going from light to darkest.

I really like how it turned out and know that I will definitely be using this technique on some masculine cards that I need.

I can't believe this is my third card since becoming a member of this incredible design team. Sasya is so nice and her sketches are amazing. For this weeks card I used some BasicGrey "Capella" papers along with my handmade wrinkle ribbon and a sticker from October Afternoon.

Handmade ribbon and flowers

I have been busy making more of my wrinkle ribbons and satin flowers  that I wanted to share with you today. As well as completing a couple of design team projects that I will share with you later in the week.

These are some of the colors I just made and I have some other colors that I photographed earlier this week.

Colors not shown are purple, lime green, red, strawberry, purple, orange, cornflower blue and a bright yellow. If you want to purchase the ribbons I have placed a paypal button on the right side of my blog.

kick up your heels

I just recently discovered the Crafty Secrets "girlfriend" creative scraps and they work perfectly with this new paper collection from Melissa Frances called "kitschy kitchen".

My card is for the newest sketch over at Card Patterns.

Along with the Melissa Frances papers I added a rolled rose, along with some Martha Stewart Leaves and a Cosmo Cricket "tiny type sticker". Here is the sketch that inspired my card.

a true friend ~ thinking of you

I have a couple of cards to share with you today. I made them while chatting with my friend Michelle on Skype.

This first card is for a new sketch challenge I found while blurfing called "sassy lil sketches". It was a good sketch to try out one of my new sentiment stamps, butterfly and seam binding.

I didn't know how to color the butterfly so I took three different colors of glimmer mist and placed them randomly on a sheet of white cardstock and then I stamped the buttterfly image then added some copic markers to some of the areas.

My next card is for Clean and Simple Stamping and for this one I used some of the PTI 8x8 paper collection "library ledger". I love this collection. One of my favorites. And I added some of my handmade wrinkle ribbon in brown.

Here is the sketch that inspired the card. So much fun and so many possibilities, which is what makes this such an amazing card sketch.

summer fun

I went over to my friend Bonnie's house last week and she taught me how to make these cute little scrapbooks using envelopes, chipboard and papers.

Once I got home I wanted to make another one so I could make sure I remembered how. So I created this little book for Micah.

I had these pictures of  a day at the lake and wanted to use those along with some old papers in my stash. The Cosmo Cricket "snorkel and little man double deck" papers work wonderfully with the photos. I added some extra embellishments, some journalling and the book was done in no time.

Here are a few pictures of the book.

I love how the cover turned out. I added some wrinkle ribbon, tiny type stickers and my new butterfly punch.

I like how the journaling or photos are tucked inside the envelopes. The book is made with 10 envelopes so you can actually put 20 photos on the inside along with some journaling.

Or you can add pictures to the front and just journal on the inside.

This is one of my favorite photos from that day.

On these two pages I added some of my handmade wrinkle ribbons and that cute little Lori Boyd "puddle jumper christian".

I have a quick card to share with you today for the newest challenge over at APIT it is a sketch challenge my favorite kind.

Don't you just love this sketch? I found it was perfect to use my last piece of this "Oh Sophia" paper by My Minds Eye and some of my rolled roses.

I also am making some more of my wrinkle ribbons to sell and these are 3 of the newest ones I made. I love the blue especially as it reminds me of denim blue. If you are interested in purchasing any of my wrinkle ribbon leave me a comment or send me an email.

I am off this morning to help Shannon and her girl scout troop work on their scrapbooks from all the activities they did this past year as a troop. It should be fun.

I have a quick card to share with you before Justin and I run out for haircuts this afternoon. 

My card is for the newest challenge over at Card Patterns and once again I have used my new digi image "baby kate" from Lori Boyd Designs. I just think she is adorable and so much fun to color.

I wanted to do a white on white card but did not want to leave it just plain so I grabbed my scorepal and created a bunch of diagonal lines. I think it gives it just the right texture. I added a few basicgrey buttonns and a sentiment by savvy.

Project Tuesday ~ Flap Card

I am so glad it is Tuesday as not only does it mean I am getting a haircut today, but it is also time for another tutorial from Project Tuesday.

Oh Alice 26 ~ CPS 180

I have two cards to share with you this evening before I call it a night. I was making cards and Skyping with my friend Michelle this evening and managed to get two cards done.

This first card is for this weeks challenge over at Oh Alice and this week it is a sketch challenge for us.

For this card I used some of my Webster's Pages along with an image I found on the internet of Alice and the rabbit. I thought the colors went well with this new wrinkle ribbon I created today using some of the Glimmer Mist Chalkboard ink in "cornflower" and the rolled flower was made using some Jenni Bowlin papers.  Here is the sketch that inspired my card.

And my next card is for this weeks challenge at CPS. Such a fun sketch to play with. For my card I am using a new digi stamp by Lori Boyd called "baby kate" and some more of my handmade wrinkle ribbon.

Happy Monday ~ Hope you had a great weekend. I know I did as it has finally cooled off here in Minnesota and the humidity has hopefully headed South for now.

My card today is for the challenge over at Clean and Simple Stamping such a fun sketch this week so if you have time grab your stamps and play along.

This afternoon Justin and I are headed to Courage Center for his Swim Fit therapy which he really likes and then maybe we will stop at Caribou and grab a smoothie for him and a vanilla cooler with an extra shot of espresso for me.

first ~ for Amy

My friend Amy has challenged all of us who read her blog to post a picture of our first card ever posted on our blog.

Let me just say  ~ get ready to laugh. I didn't even take a photo of the card or crop it. I just put it on the scanner and there it was. That was March 11th 2009.

What was I thinking ~ no way did I think this looked good. Okay I did I will admit it. I was so proud of ME for posting this and actual setting up a blog.

The sentiment on the card says "you don't think these bows make us look fat do you?"

congrats ~ peaceful ~ joy

I have been making cards and have a  few cards that I can share with you today. The others will be shared with you next week for my design team obligations.

This first card uses another of those fabulous Lori Boyd digital images "baby kate" and she is available through Claudia and Company. I used her for the challenge over at "a crafty little place" and this weeks challenge was to use a manilla tag on your card or layout.

For this card I used some scraps of baby papers that I had in my baby girl file, white wrinkle ribbon, basicgrey buttons, amd may arts ribbons.

My next card is for this weeks challenge over at Get Sketchy. They are having a DT call right now.

For this card I used some of my "mistletoe" collection from Memory Box, tiny type stickers from Cosmo Cricket, SU bird punch, and button from PTI.

My last card is for the challenge over at CCEE this was another fun challenge and I decided to do another Holiday card.

I used the memory box "mistletoe" collection for this card too, along with a PTI die, A Muse stamp, and some kaisercraft pearls.
