happy birthday - ho ho ho

I needed a birthday card for my mother-in-law later this week and thought the sketch over at Sassy Lil Sketches would be just perfect.

I used some new papers from Jillibean Soup along with some Webster Pages ribbon roses that I had been hoarding for awhile.

My next card is for the newest sketch over at 2S4Y I looked at the sketch and saw a Christmas Card in the making.

The papers are from The Little Yellow Bicycle, the snowflake is a Cuttlebug die and the button is from PTI.

techno stamper 140

It has been raining here off and on for a couple of days so I have been in the craftroom watching chick flicks and creating cards and scrapbook layouts.

My card today is for this weeks challenge over at Techno Stamper and it is a sketch challenge. Once again I have used some new papers by BasicGrey from the "pyrus" collection which I picked up at Anchor Paper Express the other day. I just love the patterns and fall colors in this paper pad.

This was a fun card to create especially the section with the nestability labels 8 die. I cut out two the same size and then trimmed one down an 1/8th of an inch to get the thin border.

TMS#60 ~ and just because card

This is my second post for today since I have a few cards on my craft table that I have not shared with you yet.

I decided to do this weeks challenge over at the Tuesday Morning Sketches and this week we were  to use handmade flowers on our card or layout. This was perfect for me as I had this muslin rosette just sitting on my table waiting to be used somewhere, I had made two of them a couple weeks back and only used one on my garden scrapbook layout.

Along with my handmade flower I used papers from basicgrey "pyrus" collection, some may arts ribbon, SU leaf and my labels 8 nestability for the shape of the card.

I distressed the edges of the BG paper to give it that shabby look like the muslin flower.

My next card is a just because I wanted to make a card using my new stamp that I won from Claudia and Company for being last months blog hop winner. Don't you just love Birthday Lily? She is one of the puddle jumpers created by Lori Boyd.

I had so much fun coloring her in and adding the glossy accents to parts of her dress, balloon, and present.

just because

I just finished watching the movie "the backup plan" and I loved it. But I am not someone who can just sit and watch a movie so decided to make a couple cards in the process.

My friend Yvonne does this great feature on her blog where she introduces us to other crafty people and then does a card challenge. Well this weeks person is Karen and she shared a tutorial on how to make her grid design backgrounds.

For a first try I am pretty happy with how it turned out ~ I see a few things I will definitely change if I do this type of background again. The stamp set I used is by American Crafts and the ribbon is some of the wrinkle ribbon I made this past weekend.

This next card is a new technique that I had to try out once I saw it on my friend Chrissie's blog. You start out by blending your inks for the background and then stamp your image repeatedly in colors going from light to darkest.

I really like how it turned out and know that I will definitely be using this technique on some masculine cards that I need.

OTWC Challenge #18

While blurfing today I stumbled on to this NEW (to me) OTWC challenge blog and decided to give it a try. It was a color inspiration challenge.

We were to use this picture as our inspiration and the colors to use were blue, yellow, and white. We could add cream to the mixture as well.

And this is the card that I made based on this inspiration.

I guess what really drew me to this challenge besides the colors was this handmade satin flower that I made earlier today along with a few other ones. They just happened to be sitting on my desk waiting to be packaged up for sale.

I made a few other cards today ~ I just can't share them with you yet.
