It's your Birthday ~ Art Impressions

There is still time to play in our current challenge over on the Art Impressions blog.

For our current challenge we want to see cards with sentiments only on them. No other stamping is allowed.

For my card I created a small 4 x 4 square. I stamped the "celebrate" all over the kraft cardstock using versamark ink and embossed it using Zing Opaque White. Next I stamped the sentiment from "Hog Wild Birthday" on the vellum using versamark ink and Zing Powder.

I then cut a fishtail banner and sewed it onto my card before doing the final assembly. I added some wood dots by My Minds Eye and it was done. A quick and easy card.

I think coming up with the design took longer than making the actual card.

Stop over at the Art Impressions blog today and check out what the rest of the design team created for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Getting Old

I had a few minutes and decided to create a card using one of my yet to be inked up stamps sitting on my desk.

I keep all my new stamps on my desk until they are inked up and once that is done I then file them into my stamp storage system.

Meet Art Impressions "Golden Oldie" Jean.

Such a fun image to color. I know this will probably be a thinner version of me in a few years or at least it feels like it some days.

I used a Memory Box Stars stencil and randomly placed some stars on the left side and then cut a piece of vellum into a fish tail banner and stamped the You First sentiment on it in Black Staz-on ink. I sewed the banner on and left the threads a little long and then added some gold stars from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

retail therapy! STS#21

You still have time to play along with us at Seize the Sketch!

Our current sketch was designed by Lori.

I created this card using one of the Art Impressions Card Keeper sets called Cash Keeper. So easy to color and then cut a slit to place the money. Perfect birthday card for anyone and you don't have to worry about getting the right size or if they will like it.

(copics used: EOOO, E00, R20, R30, EO4, R32, N1 T1, T2, YG05, YG07, YG23, Y11, Y15, Y19)

Hello ~ Need a Crown? STS21

We have a new sketch for you today over at Seize the Sketch.

Our sketch was created by Lori.

For my card I pulled out one of my new favorite stamps by Art Impressions.

Meet Golden Oldie Agnes. She reminds me of how one would dress if they were to attend the Kentucky Derby.

I used the sentiment from the Ai People Crown Set.

Instead of my usual Copic marker coloring I pulled out my set of watercolors and painted her. I definitely need more practice but am happy with my first shot at it.

Make sure you stop over at the Seize the Sketch blog and check out what the rest of the design team created with this sketch.

with sympathy

So are you like me and do you have stamps in your collections that you haven't even inked up yet?

I have so many that I have decided to start inking them up and using them.

Let me introduce to you PTI ~ Life is Beautiful along with PTI - Keep it Simple ~ Sympathy. Two sets that I recently purchased along with a matching die.

I stamped the butterflies with PTI inks and then added some watercolor using my distress markers. I then cut out of the butterfly dies using vellum and sewed it on to give it a little more texture.

Now I can say that I have used the stamps and dies and can file this set away.

With Sympathy

I had all these odds and ends from leftover projects sitting on my desk for a few weeks now, so today I decided to make a quick card.

I love when a card comes together quickly and all you need to add is a little bit of gold and black splatter to call it complete.

On the inside I stamped with sympathy as butterflies always remind me of that. I will add it to my box of cards that I use.

Only in Minnesota

This is a photo of my backyard within a 12 hour time period that started last night and ended late morning.

The bad news we got about 12" of new snow and the good news is we are going to be in the 50's and 60's in a few days so it won't last long.

I played along with a couple challenges and created this card.

I absolutely love the new Hero Arts stencils and matching stamps.

I am entering this into the Virginia's View Challenge #2

the newest Card Concept 7 Challenge.

hello ~ cardabilities #96

It is a gorgeous day here in Minnesota and tomorrow is even going to be nicer. Weatherman says 60 degrees. Time to pull out the flip flops for sure. We haven't had temps this warm in over 165 days.

Before I headed out this morning I played with my new favorite sketch challenge Cardabilities!

I am kicking myself for not trying out for their DT call they had recently.

Here is my take on the sketch using paper, chipboard and embossing folders by Crate Paper and vellum leaves by PoppyStamps.

PoppyStamps Blog Blitz

The fun continues on the PoppyStamps blog.

The design team has been busy showing off all of the new dies and today I want to introduce you to Massa Leaf Frame and Delaney Butterfly.

I love leaves and when I saw this frame die I just could not help myself.

Don't you just love the vellum?

What about that beautiful yet delicate butterfly? Yep, I couldn't resist it either.

I cut the frame out twice and then added a few pearls along with the gold glitter butterfly and some enamel dots.

Stop over at the PoppyStamps blog and leave a comment on my card for a chance to win the Massa Leaf Frame die that I am giving away to one lucky commentor.

Sugar & Spice ~ Ai

Today the  Art Impressions design team is doing a mini blog hop featuring our newest release and challenge.

My card features one of the new Mini Front & Back sets called Boy & Girl which was released at CHA this past January and just released into the Art Impressions Store a few days ago.

Here is a look at the front of my card. Don't you just love her little head peeking through that vellum window?

And this is what it looks like on the opposite side once you open up the card.

Such a fun set to use.

I hope you will stop over at the Ai blog for a list of design team and the hop order.

oh shoot ~ fms127

(this is my second post for today, scroll down for some exciting news)

I love a clean and simple sketch and I found the perfect one at Freshly Made Sketches this week.

I still had this Amy Tangerine paper on my desk from a card I did earlier and thought the camera theme was perfect for the sentiment.

I am still in my honeymoon stage with Vellum and embossing powders so they too were my go to items on this card. Add a little wood veneer and I am one happy camper.

Hello There

It is time for the March Club Kit at A Day for Daisies and this week the Design Team is revealing the cards that we submitted for publication to Complete CardMaking magazine.

It is also a challenge week and the challenge is Anything Goes!

I am excited as this is my 2nd published card.

I used the image wild white and printed it out on some book paper then added some Copic Markers to highlight the flowers and then added a touch of glossy accents to the center of each flower.

I also used my favorite leave dies by PoppyStamps and cut them out of vellum.

I am still waiting to get a copy of the magazine but will share my card again once I have it in my hands.

Make sure you stop over at the ADFD blog and check out the other girls cards.

hello

Just a quick card to my share that I created for new challenge Virginia's View. You can get all the details here.

I just got this new Technique Tuesday Chickadee stamp that I have been wanting for awhile and it was perfect.

I embossed the chickadees and then did a quick wash of color with my brush and water colors. The papers by Lawn Fawn were a gift from my friend Rose.

merry

I am up on the PoppyStamps blog today sharing this card I created using the Blooming Poinsettia die and the Merry die.

If you visit my blog often you know that I am a fan of white card bases as well as clean and simple cards.

For the base of my card I used my Scor-Buddy to make lines at every 1/4 inch. I then die cut a circle in vellum and added white dash marks with my Uni-ball white pen.

The flower and leaves are also cut out of vellum and put together with foam tape to give it a little more dimension. I added some gold metal studs to the center of each flower. I then cut out the merry with some gold glitter paper.

I hope you will stop over at the PoppyStamps blog and leave me a comment.

nice rack

I had a vellum tag and a new stencil by Tim Holtz and stamp set by Fresh Squeezed Stamps sitting on my desk so I just had to play today.

Every time I see the sentiment on this card it makes me laugh.

That is it for me today.
