hello friend ~ STS#23

Time for a new sketch challenge over at Seize the Sketch and this weeks sketch was created by Lee Ann.

Meet sketch #23!

This was a great sketch to work with and my card came together rather quickly once I figured out what to use. That is sometimes a process in itself.

I had the butterfly, oval cut and hello sitting on my desk in my diecut bowl so it was a matter of just picking some papers to match the butterfly.

I used some new to me papers by BasicGrey from the Hghline collection. That hello die cut was originally white, but I did some watercoloring with my Persimmon distress marker and then added some pink color using my watermelon gelato.

Make sure you stop over at the Seize the Sketch blog and check out what the design team created with this sketch.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot to me.

Hello ~ Need a Crown? STS21

We have a new sketch for you today over at Seize the Sketch.

Our sketch was created by Lori.

For my card I pulled out one of my new favorite stamps by Art Impressions.

Meet Golden Oldie Agnes. She reminds me of how one would dress if they were to attend the Kentucky Derby.

I used the sentiment from the Ai People Crown Set.

Instead of my usual Copic marker coloring I pulled out my set of watercolors and painted her. I definitely need more practice but am happy with my first shot at it.

Make sure you stop over at the Seize the Sketch blog and check out what the rest of the design team created with this sketch.

Online Card Class ~ Watercolor ~ Day 6

This class is going by quickly and I have a card to share with you from Day 6.

I used a couple of new stamp sets that I bought recently by PaperTrey Ink and Avery Elle.

You can't see it real well but the card is full of shimmer. In this lesson we learned how to watercolor with distress markers and liquid shimmer.

I loved this technique and will definitely be trying it again.

Online Card Class ~ Watercolor ~ Day 5

Wasn't sure I was going to share my card from day 5 with you as I wasn't sure if I was crazy about it or not.

But since I have shared every card with you that I have created from this class I am sharing this one as well.

Lets just say I have a ways to go in the watercolor arena.

Online Card Class ~ Watercolor Day 3

I have been waiting for my stamp I ordered so I can do Day 3 of class using the marker technique that Kristina showed us. While going through my Feedly yesterday I found a video by Dawn at WPlus9 showing a similar technique.

And it was perfect for Day 3 of class.

The homework was to color directly on your stamps with markers and then paint with water after you stamped it.

This is my first attempt at this technique so I still have a ways to go, but I am happy with it.

Here is the finished card.

I used the WPlus9 Fresh Cut Floral stamp set and the cup and sentiment are by Paper Smooches.

Online Watercolor Class - Day 4 (cont)

Here is the 2nd card I created for my homework for day 4 of class.

This card uses Gelatos and water direct to stamp.

I definitely see a lot of these kind of cards in my future.

Online Watercolor Class Day 4

I am working away on my homework for my Online Watercolor class and this morning I worked on Day 4.

This card was created using distress markers and water.

I must admit I love how it turned out.

I took this photo with my phone didn't know it would turn out so nice.

Online Card Class ~ Epic Fail Day

Today once again I created a couple of cards from my Online Watercolor class and both cards sadly did not turn out like I wanted.

First up is a card I created from day two called watercolor and masking.

My first sample I did the watercolor turned out beautifully. I had the colors as Pink, Orange and then Purple. I like that combo better but when I rubbed the liquid frisket off the stamped image came off as well.

So I created the card you see below. First I reversed the colors and don't like it as much and I should have done it less even and did it a little bit more uneven. I was going to throw it out like the others but decided to share it anyways.

The Next card is from Day 3 and we were supposed to use ink pads and create a watercolor effect by spraying with water. Well I tried my hero arts inks and my papertrey inks and neither of them gave me a watercolor effect.

So because I had the supplies out I decided to just copy the teachers layout and create a non-watercolor card until I could get to the store and buy some Memento ink pads to try this again.

Hopefully, I will be back tomorrow or Saturday with a revised card doing the watercolor treatment.

OCC Watercolor ~ Day two

Just a quick card to share what I created in class from day two.

This one was created using watercolor pencils for the background and splatter.

OCC Watercolor Day 1 (two cards cont)

I did a couple more cards for day 1 using the same technique as my card yesterday only changing the colors and the embellishment.

I must admit at first I wasn't sure about the purple and red but after looking at it more and more I really like it. I sewed on the hello for a little different texture on my card.

My next card I must admit that I had a heck of a time getting it to work and threw out the first 2 attempts at watercolors and stencils.

In the end I was pretty pleased with the outcome.

I love the tag and the way Jennifer showed us how to tie it onto our card.

I will be back with a card from day two.

OCC Watercolor Day 1

I am taking the Online Watercolor class and today is day one.

I have lots to learn based on this my first card.

Hoping I learn to soften up my colors a little bit more as they seem really dark compared to what the teachers card looked like.

Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow.

hello ~ PP185

I played along with the Paper Players newest challenge "thankful for spring"!

I watched this video by blog friend Joni and it inspired today's card.

hello

Just a quick card to my share that I created for new challenge Virginia's View. You can get all the details here.

I just got this new Technique Tuesday Chickadee stamp that I have been wanting for awhile and it was perfect.

I embossed the chickadees and then did a quick wash of color with my brush and water colors. The papers by Lawn Fawn were a gift from my friend Rose.

eye SEE you!

Well I thought I read the challenge correctly, but now as I type up my blog post I see that I totally got it wrong.

CFC41:  Jest for the Pun of it.
Use a pun, or a sentiment in a silly way to create a joke, on your
Clean And Simple creation.

I probably should have used something that said "Eye SEE You!" instead of what I used. But I am too lazy to go back and change the sentiment and re-shoot a photo of my card.

I think I will be a rebel and post my card on the challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays anyway.

Thanks for stopping by to look.
