Simply Watercolor Class - Day Three

I'm back and today's class topic was Lettering and Typography!

It was fun and I learned a few things and will improve on my cards when I go back and redo the examples.  

So here are todays cards...

This first card was about coloring inside the letter and letting the colors flow into each other.

The second card was about coloring outside the letter and as you can see I should have made a point to be closer to the letter outline so my lines maybe would have been straighter.

I am off to watch the rest of the videos for day three and may return with a few more samples from class.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day Two

Today is day two of my Simply Watercolor Class and in this class we are using watercolors and drawing mediums only. NO STAMPS! 

I can't draw to save my life and today was all about drawing animals. (insert sad face here)

I tried the first technique and immediately threw it out along with the 2nd technique. Finally I decided to be brave and just do the third technique.

Meet Mr. Bear...

I am going to just say I love how he turned out. I will definitely do another one like this so I can work on my animal drawing skills and also my banner skills.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day One Continued

Wanted to share with you the last card that I made for yesterdays class.

I definitely need to practice my plaid patterns but for a first try I am pretty happy with it. I redid the sentiment 3 times and wasn't excited about how that looked but went with it
anyways as that is how I write.

Definitely need a hand lettering class next.

I am off to craft club at our church this morning so will do today's lesson when I get home.

Simply Watercolor Class - Day One

I have been in a creative mode lately so decided to try and get back to some card making and today I am taking a class called Simply Watercolor.

First lesson and I have already failed. We were to create a background using colors of the rainbow...as you can see not so much a rainbow but more on the messy dark side. But its a learning experience and I will just go with it.

I definitely need to work on my brush skills to get even strokes.

Okay, I decided to try one more time using a different watercolor set. Here is the 2nd card. I'm still a beginner and will work on my watercolor skills.

Tea Bag Holder #2

I just learned how to make these cute little tea bag holders and am having so much fun doing so I decided to make another one. My friend Tami noticed the one that I had placed on my blog a few days ago and commented on how she liked it so I thought I would make another one to share.

Tea Bag Holder

Today the SCS newsletter had a tutorial for making a cute tea bag holder. It was so simple and the instructions were wonderful. I just had to put one together using a new favorite paper by Jenni Bowlin, the stamp sentiment is from American Crafts (stamp of the month at Anchor Paper this month), Ribbon is from May Arts, buttons are from Autumn Leaves, and the ink is Ranger Distressed in Vintage photo and Antique Linen. The little pocket on the inside perfectly fits a tea bag on each side. Just too cute if I do say so myself. And besides a good cup of Caribou coffee I do enjoy a good cup of tea once in awhile. Enjoy!

In A Card Making Mood

I don't know what has come over me, but all I want to do is make cards. I had to run over to Anchor Paper Express today and check out what came in that was new and this paper just screamed at me to buy it. It is by Jenni Bowlin. I am really happy how it turned out and hope you enjoy it.

First Memory Box Card - Inspired by Tami

I went scrapbooking with my friend

Tami a couple of days ago because she wanted to make a special gift for her sister and she had never scrapbooked before. So I told her I would help get her started. She had the most wonderful papers to use they were called "Memory Box" and the design I fell in love with is called "sweetbay". Well I just had to have that paper, so the minute I got home I emailed her contact Laurel at Studio Card in Brainerd, MN and ordered that along with two other collections and a Penguin. Tami is obsessed with the little guys so figured I would see what the fuss is all about.
I created this Father's day card for my Pops using some of the papers from "sweetbay", kraft card stock, QuicKutz new dots embossing folder, Tim Holtz distressed inks Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint. My favorite BasicGrey buttons, some hemp that I distressed and a little bit of May Arts Ribbon.

Spring Fling Sketch Challenge

I am sending this card to my sister Sharon for mother's day, she is like a Mother to me and always has been ever since we were little. I think she will appreciate the photo. This was a fun sketch to play with.

CardLifting - 365 Days of Cards

On the 365 Cards challenge yesterday Sophie did a card using a simple embossing plate, patterned paper, button, ribbon and thickers. The card was so amazing I just had to scraplift it.

Although my card is not as amazing as hers here is mine. I used the new quickutz embossing folder called "diamonds and dots". What is so amazing out them is that they fit the entire height of a standard A2 card. The paper is from Making Memories, the number is Thickers, ribbonn is May Arts, and the button is Basic Grey.

Quick Card Monday

Here is a new card I created for my BFF in Oregon. I wanted to make a quick card using the new Basic Grey "Wisteria" paper and my new Nestabilities butterfly die. I had a hard time picking which color butterfly to use so finally ended with this one. Enjoy!

I thought I would post a picture of a card that I made for a friends 60th Birthday. The picture is of the 4 of us that worked together until we were laid off last February. We are going to go and surprise her today. The inside of the card says "Remember when Birthdays were less complicated and 60 was the speed limit and not your age?"

Easter Cards

I took a little bit of time this weekend to make a couple of Easter Cards using my new stamps by Impression Obsession. The paper is by Making Memories and is called Garden Party. The ribbon is by May Arts. I made 3 different cards each a little bit different. This one is going in the mail today to my niece Cassie.

Micah's Announcement

I spent most of yesterday getting 30 birth announcements ready for my niece and her husband. I was originally going to use ribbon instead of paper for the band that goes around and then decided to go the cheaper route and just use this cute baby paper by KaiserCraft called Little Man. The stamp is one of those you buy at Michael's really cheap. I borrowed it from a friend since this was the same idea she used for her Grandson's announcement only she used ribbon instead of paper for the band. The inside is his photo and birth info.

COPIC 101

I took my first Copic coloring class yesterday and have to admit although it was fun it was alot more work than I thought and now I understand what Tami Wood meant about practice, practice, practice. I need to get better at this.

Friday Card

I am so glad today is Friday that means only 3 more days before I am in Pine City scrapbooking with my friends, Bonnie, Jeanne and Judy. We will check in at 10 am on Monday and spend the night coming home on Tuesday. Not only is it a timem to be with friends it is a good time to get some of those projects done.

Todays card is really simple. I used my favorite Basic Grey paper and buttons along with a leftover flower with leaves (don't remember who they are by).
