let them eat cake

Just had to share this picture of Micah with you after he dug into his cupcake yesterday.

Not only was it all over his face he had it in his hair, on the chair, and even on the floor.

Happy Birthday ALMOST

Okay those who know me know that I am not one to bake a cake or even cupcakes. I do however like to make cookies.

Well I volunteered to make Micah's first birthday cake (what was I thinking), well his birthday is March 17th and I decided I needed to make a test run to make sure I don't ruin his special day.

I borrowed a Wilton large cupcake pan from a friend and then got hints on how to make it turn out just right from my friend Bonnie.

And here is the result of my first attempt.

The picture doesn't do the BIG cupcake justice, it is just too cute for words. Now I need to go to a Party store and find a large number one to put on it. I decided not to put frosting around the bottom of the cupcake, but I think it needs something. Maybe I can get some cute birthday paper and make like a cupcake wrapper. Any ideas?

Micah and his Mom are coming over today for a visit and to check out the cupcake. I will be sure and get pictures of the big day when he gets to make a mess of himself and the cake.
